About Aboriginal Education

Our Purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal students receive a quality education that fosters a strong sense of pride, confidence and knowledge of their heritage.

The Aboriginal Education Department provides the following:

  • Academic and cultural support for all students
  • One on one instruction (within a classroom setting)
  • Help with transition for courses, program and post-secondary education
  • Cultural and resource support for teachers and staff
  • Aboriginal Education Role Model Program
  • Instruction using Aboriginal Ways of Learning and learning styles for your particular needs
  • Resources to increase Aboriginal Awareness for all students and staff

Within the school district we provide:

  • Cultural events that connect our students and their families with each other
  • A seasonal newsletter updating families on department and school news
  • Aboriginal resources to support classroom learning
  • A graduation recognition ceremony for our students and their families
